                 After graduating from Cambridge University, Rick left a successful career for a blue-chip consultancy in the city to become a struggling artist, studying film-making in Paris.

 

His film-making career first began when he won the first Barnet Screenwriting award (2003) for his script Hubert’s Travels. The eventual film won many awards and led to his feature script Sticky Fingers receiving favourable coverage from Fox Searchlight. Shortly after, his next feature script Dig Deeper was a finalist in the London Independent Film Festival, was short-listed for funding by the UK Film Council, and championed by the BBC Writersroom, and more recently won the 2012 Best Screenplay award at the Newport International Film Festival. In 2008, Rick won the Best Script prize in the Off/On Warsaw European Film Week for the short film Hide & Sick, which he co-wrote with the director, Luc Walpoth.

As a director and writer, Rick has made several short films, the most recent being Put Down, the script for which won the IMDb Script to Screen Award at the Bath Film Festival. Before that, he made Gemalogia, a romantic fairytale filmed on location in Madrid in November 2010, and which so far has been selected for nearly 30 festivals around the world, and has won 6 awards, including Best Director. Other previous short films include Confession, 13 min in length, on 35mm, which was selected for five international festivals, and 0NE M0RE N0THING, 8 min in length, shot on DV, and selected for two international film festivals.​

In 2011 Rick wrote and directed the full length theatre play Freedom, which completed two different tours of the UK, and in 2012 ran for four weeks in London’s leading fringe venue, the Arcola Theatre. The play has since been performed in Spain, and Rick has gone on to co-write three other plays which have been performed to thousands around the world.

Rick has recently received an "honorable mention" in the NYC Midnight Screenwriting Challenge, and has various scripts in development.
