Ivan Capillas was born in 1973 in Sabadell. He began studying music theory and piano at the age of 5. At the age of 7 he wrote his first piece of music, and he debuted as a pianist when he was 16. Afterwards, he qualified as a piano teacher and got his High Degree in composition, orchestration, harmony and music theory, receiving the Honour Prize of the Conservatory.

Later he studied conducting and expanded his knowledge at Berklee College of Music, studying advanced orquestration techniques and audio mastering engineering.

Nowadays he focuses on composing music for film, theatre and visuals, and his scores for film have been awarded and nominee in several national and international film festivals.
